Church of St. Morten
King Harald Blue tooth took credit in the mid-10th century for making Danes Christian. The history of the Jelling stone must probably be taken with a little salt, and historians today agree that the Danes from around the year 900 spent hundreds of years turning their backs on Asgård, Odin and Thor.
At Fur, three great men built Gutchi, Agi and Atte shortly before 1126 St. Mortens Church.
The fact that we know the year so accurately is due to the Pope receiving a confirmation from the Diocese of Viborg in 1166 that the former bishop had given the church more than 40 years earlier from the three founders.
The church is named after the Catholic saint St. Morten, who lived in Tours in France in the 5th century. St. Morten has named "Mortens Evening" on November 10.
On the west side of the church tower sits a carved stone face walled. The stone originates from the church and was reused when the tower was erected sometime in the 1500s.
